The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is an important update for Samsung in the face of stiff new competition from the Google Pixel line. The new folder costs £1,749 ($1,799.99/A$2,599), making it £100 more than last year’s excellent Fold 4 and the same eye-wateringly expensive price as Google Fold’s
It is advisable to consider these cutting-edge gadgets as more than just phones. The Samsung Fold 5 is the most capable Android gadget you can buy, and Samsung markets it as a full PC, tablet, and phone that folds up and fits in your pocket.

Since the model from last year, the design has been improved, giving up the wedge shape and folding flat when closed thanks to the same innovative hinge design as the Z Flip 5. The wrinkle along the screen fold is less noticeable because the gadget is 10g lighter and 10g thinner than its predecessor.
Even while it is only 13g heavier than an iPhone 14 Pro Max, it is nevertheless thicker than a typical phone. It is undoubtedly lighter than its main opponent and feels less like a weight in the pocket.
The external 6.2-inch display is a little bit small, which makes the keyboard a little bit claustrophobic, but it looks nice and functions enough for phone-related tasks like messaging, listening to music, and other fast stuff. The 7.6in internal display, when unfolded, continues to be a marvel to see despite everything else.
Since it is brighter than last year, glare outside is less of an issue. Although Samsung claims that its new design makes it 25% more durable than before, it must still be handled carefully since, like all folding screens, it is still softer than typical tablet glass.
